Thomas Wolter

I grew up in southern Minnesota and have been building, remodeling, and developing homes for more than 25 years. My journey into home building started by fixing up houses on the side while working and raising a family. In 2003, I joined a national home builder as a Land Development Manager, where I gained extensive experience in land development, site planning, construction, budgeting, and the many details that go into creating a successful home and property.

In 2013, I started Timbercrest, initially focusing on remodeling and improving existing homes. In 2018, we expanded into new home construction. Since then, I have personally designed and built more than 40 new homes, along with numerous remodeling projects.

What I enjoy most about building a custom home is working directly with the homeowners to create something that is truly theirs. Whether we start with a design they already have or develop the home together from the beginning, I spend a lot of time understanding how they want to live, what is important to them, and how the home should function day to day.

The details matter. I think about things that can easily be overlooked during the design process: the number of steps into the home, room dimensions and furniture placement, traffic flow, sightlines, storage, and how each space will actually be used. We also look beyond the house itself, considering future additions, landscaping, outdoor living areas, and other features that may become part of the property over time.

Selections receive the same attention. I work closely with our clients and our team to make sure the materials, finishes, cabinetry, flooring, fixtures, lighting, and other details work together so the finished home feels cohesive rather than simply being a collection of individual selections.

Just as important is understanding the land. Before designing or positioning a home, I consider the views, natural features, drainage, privacy, sunlight, outdoor spaces, and how the property will ultimately be enjoyed. I believe the relationship between the home and the land can make a tremendous difference in how a property looks, feels, and lives.

Timbercrest is a family-run company, and that is an important part of who we are. My wife and children all contribute to the business in different ways, including sales, design, construction, and project supervision. I remain personally involved throughout the entire building process, coordinating construction, overseeing the details, and communicating directly with our clients from the beginning of the project through completion.

Outside of building, family remains a big part of my life. I married my high school sweetheart in 1997, and together we have three children. And, of course, there is Phoebe, my faithful Australian Shepherd, who is rarely far away.

At Timbercrest, every home is personal. Each home is thoughtfully designed and carefully built by our team with a simple goal: create a quality home that fits the land, fits the family, and will be enjoyed for generations.
